Welcome to the

Social Policy & Identity Research (SPIR) Lab

Lab Director: Ines Jurcevic, Ph.D.

Located at the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, the Social Policy and Identity Research (SPIR) Lab examines how people, organizations, and institutions understand, communicate, and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion in public and organizational life. Drawing on social psychology, public administration and management, behavioral science, and public policy, we study how equity-related messages, structures, and interactions shape judgment, belonging, legitimacy, and institutional change.

Our aim is to better understand how equity efforts are implemented and interpreted and how organizations and public systems can be designed to support more credible, durable, and effective change.

We are recruiting Research Assistants for Autumn 2026.

If you’re interested in joining the lab, please see Join the Lab for details.
